Recently Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued a circular that each person in Nepal can get a dollar card where each receives a maximum of $500 to use per year. Furthermore, NRB has allowed commercial and development banks in Nepal to issue pre-paid dollar cards.

Steps to get a dollar card in Nepal
- Visit the commercial bank that offers a visa International pre-paid dollar card.
- First, you need to have a bank account at that commercial bank. Only after that, you can open a dollar account linked with your regular account to get a dollar card.
- Before going to the bank for a dollar card, you need to have a Permanent Account Number (PAN).
- Optionally, you may have to update the Know your Customer (KYC) form.
You can use a dollar card to pay domain, hosting charges, Netflix, Amazon Prime subscription, buy online courses, etc.

The first loading fee is NPR 1000 but some bank offers a discount while loading $500 on your dollar card and the renewal fee for loading another $500 is NPR 500.
